No end in sight for Ukraine war as Putin hails Victory Day

ZAPORIZHZHIA, Ukraine (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin used a major patriotic holiday Monday to again justify his war in Ukraine but did not declare even a limited victory or signal where the conflict was headed, as his forces pressed their offensive with few signs of significant progress.

Review: Halestorm’s new album is a roar (and lots more, too)

Halestorm’s new album, “Back From the Dead,” is not for the faint of heart, or anyone with even a trace of a headache: it’s a full-on sonic assault of screams, wailing guitars, pounding drums and booming bass. The Associated Press’ Wayne Parry says in a review that singer and guitarist Lzzy Hale manages to pull it off with a deft songwriting touch and a surprising sense of melody that belies the bombast. She screams a lot on this record, and yet she has a truly beautiful voice when she chooses to use it. This is bound to be a strong contender for the best hard rock/heavy metal album of 2022.
