Rock Hall of Fame to Dolly: Voters will decide if you’re in Dolly Parton is still on the list of this year’s nominations for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame despite the country icon asking to be removed because she hasn’t “earned that right.” The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation said in a statement Thursday that, in effect, it is up to the voters to decide if Parton is elected. “Dolly’s recommendation, along with the other 16 nominees for the class of 2022 was sent out earlier this month to our 1,200 general ballot voters, the majority of whom are artists themselves, for consideration for induction at our ceremony.” On Monday, Parton went on social media to “respectfully bow out” of the process, saying she did not want to take votes away from the remaining nominees.

As Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Mayor Paul TenHaken is preparing to deliver his State of the City address Wednesday, he can add another accolade to a growing list: the most affordable city in the U.S. h That’s according to GoodHire, a background-screening software company that examined several factors, including wage growth, unemployment rate, job growth, job openings, rental prices, real estate sale prices and real per capita personal income. h “It’s welcomed news,” TenHaken told USA TODAY about the recognition. “You can come here and live a pretty normal life.”

Kelly Glen Parker, 61, of Mustang, OK, passed away on March 16, 2022. He was born April 28, 1960, in Seminole, OK, to Billy L. Parker and Norma Jean Cox. The family later moved to Ardmore, and Kelly graduated from Ardmore High School in 1960. While at Ardmore, Kelly developed a love of sports. He played football and wrestled for the Tigers. After graduating, Kelly went on to Central State University and earned a degree in Business Administration and Computer Science.

David R. Brown, M.D.

David Randolph Brown was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma. The oldest son of Harry L. Brown and Louise Herbert Brown, he was named for two uncles who were physicians. His father Harry was a drilling superintendent who had worked in the oil fields since having to quit school after 8th grade, when his father died. One cannot overstate how much David admired his father’s work ethic, integrity, strength, mechanical skill, self-education, and ability to lead by character and example. David’s mother Louise earned her master’s degree at Texas Women’s University and taught both school and Sunday school. At an early age, David and his two younger brothers received phonics instruction, basic arithmetic, and a clear expectation from her that they excel in school. “She considered A+ possibly adequate,” he would say.
