OSDH takes wellness services on the road in Southern Oklahoma

The Oklahoma State Department of Health District 8 mobile wellness unit will offer public health services throughout March in locations across southern Oklahoma. OSDH District 8 serves a nine-county region including Carter, Garvin, Jefferson, Johnston, Love, Marshall, Murray, Pontotoc and Stephens Counties.

Thousands flee Australia floods

California man kills daughters in church

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A man who was under a restraining order and not supposed to have a gun fatally shot his three daughters, a chaperone and himself during a supervised visit with the girls at a California church, officials said Tuesday.

DAVIS - Justin Joe Whitehead was born February 5, 1981, in Oklahoma City, OK. Growing up in Davis, he graduated from Davis High School, Class of 1999. Following high school, he continued his education at Murray State College in Tishomingo. Justin spent several years working at the Michelin Tire Plant in Ardmore. He was immensely proud of his Kickapoo Heritage. Justin was a very artistic young man and enjoyed playing video games in his spare time. He was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Davis.

It’s showtime

When a student commits to raising livestock, their school day doesn’t start at 8:30 in the morning and end at 3:00 in the afternoon. Instead it often involves early mornings and late evenings filled with feeding, caring for and training their animals. For dozens of students across the county, these extended hours are their way of life, and later this week all of their hard work will be on display at the Carter County Junior Livestock Show.
