Bobby Lee Cude-Obituary

Well-known Daytona Beach resident, and former Ardmore Oklahoma resident, Bobby Lee Cude passed away December 10, 2022 at Halifax Medical Center. A former Realtor, Teacher, and CEO of Hard Hat Records and Musical Producer, he was also a member of the Pacific amphibious fleet during World War II as a Navy craft coxswain.

He was born in Ardmore Oklahoma April 21, 1925, the son of Cleburne William (CW) Cude Sr. and Dorothy ‘Dollie’ Strawn. He was 97 years old and lived most of his life at his home on the Halifax River.

Cude was best known as CEO and music publisher of Cude and Pickens Publishing at BMI Records. He and Dr. Watie Riley Pickens were co-owners and co-founders of the Times Square Fantasy Theater, and the Broadway USA Musical Series as well as co-founders and benefactors of the National High School Band Leaders Hall of Fame founded in 1985.

Mr. Cude is pre-deceased by both of his parents, his brother Cleburne William (CW) Cude Jr. of Ardmore, Oklahoma who died in Belgium during World War II, and his sister Dorothy ‘Dottie’ Cude, a former rodeo queen of Ardmore who performed at Madison Square Garden and co-wrote a popular song about Texas with her brother Bobby called “My Lone Star Love”.

He is survived by two beloved nieces, daughters of his sister, their children and families, many living Cude and Strawn cousins, in Oklahoma and other locations, as well as his closest friends and neighbors in the Daytona Beach area.

Memorial services are planned for both Daytona Beach as well as by military tribute at the Rose Hill Cemetery in the community of Ardmore, Oklahoma where other family members are interred.
