Bobby Ray Townley, 68, passed from this life into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, March 20, 2022. He was born December 12, 1953 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, the son of the late Isaac “Ike” Henry Townley and Ruth LaRue Teel Townley.
Bobby was a graduate of Amber-Pocasset (Am-Po) High School. He retired from Michelin Tire Company, and was a farmer and rancher. He and the former Linda Diane Hanna were married August 9, 1975 in Woodward, Oklahoma.
Bobby was no stranger to hard work. He loved his family and worked his entire life to provide for them. He was a man of few words, so when he spoke you listened. He was a gentle giant with a heart full of Jesus. He loved to be on his John Deere making circles in a hay field. If hay bailing was an Olympic sport, he would have gold!
The only thing he loved more than farming were “his girls”, his 4 granddaughters. They thought he hung the moon and the stars. There is no one greater than him in their minds. He felt the same toward them and was so very proud of them all. Bobby leaves a huge void in the life of his family that will be hard to fill, but because of his faith and the love for Christ that he passed on to his family, we rejoice in knowing we will see him again someday.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Rick Townley and Don Null, and father-in-law, Bob Hanna.
He is survived by his wife Linda, sons, David Townley and wife Brandi; and James Townley and wife Tarra; sisters, Patsy Reeves and husband Luther; and Cathy Townley; brothers, Steve Townley and wife Mickie; and Curtis Townley and wife Penny; and his granddaughters, Allison Townley, Breanna Townley, Laynie Townley and Rylee Townley along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m at the Lone Grove First Baptist Church with Dr. Ed Sasnett and Pastors Curtis Townley and Bill Black officate. Interment will follow at Newport Cemetery with the assistance of David Townley, James Townley, Kyle Reeves, Jason Reeves, Jeremy Townley and Scott Townley. Honorary bearers will be Jimmy Taliaferro, Steve Taliaferro, Charlie Taliaferro, Earl Taliaferro, Clint Keith, Larry Twyford and Delvon Ford.
