The Ardmoreite is once again looking for all of those individuals who make Ardmore and the surrounding area a great place to live, and we’re asking for your help. Later this fall, we will be putting out our special section called Samaritan Hearts that will honor several of these individuals with a feature story about the work they do. But first, you have to tell us who you think is worthy.

Last year’s Samaritans were: Chauvin Aaron, Dr. Michael Carnahan, Johnnie and Kipp Crutchfield, Amanda Dinwiddie, Holly Dunn, Amber Ford, Bobby Gunter, Ann Jackson, Dr. Thomas McCullough, Nikki Stewart, Bo Waddell, and Maria Wilkinson.

Who we’re looking for

As the name, Samaritan Hearts, suggests we’re looking for those who help others. This could potentially be through volunteer work, and it could go in several different directions. Maybe they could be the person you see week after week at the local football game volunteering in the concession stand. Or perhaps it could be the person who is always working behind the scenes to make sure everyone and everything is in the right place for things to go off without a hitch.

A nominee could also be a person who volunteers in the community in multiple capacities. Maybe they are on a few different boards across town and also spend one night a week volunteering at the soup kitchen.

It could even be someone whose good work comes as a part of their job. It could be the person at a nonprofit who comes up with the great ideas to raise awareness about the work their organization does, gives the organization’s social media presence a certain flair, or plans the best events.

Or it could be someone who does not fit into any of these categories but deserves recognition. We’d love for you to think outside the box and come up with a unique nominee.

How to make a nomination

A special nomination form is featured prominently on our homepage at ardmoreite.com. We will also be running nomination forms in select issues of the printed paper. All we ask for is the nominee’s name, their contact number, contact email, and why you are making the nomination. We also ask for your name and contact number in case we have any questions. You can nominate directly from the website or email your nominations to yournews@ardmoreite.com.

Hopefully, this gets you thinking about some potential nominees. We’re looking forward to seeing who you come up with and honoring some of our hometown heroes.
