Carter County Sheriff Chris Bryant said he filed for a recount just over an hour after Carter County Election Board Secretary Diane Hall announced all five provisional ballots had been rejected.
The recount will be conducted in the courtroom of District Judge Dennis Morris at 9 a.m. Friday, June 28.
Three ballots were denied due to a party dispute. The three county residents claimed their party was Republican. The issue was researched, and it was determined that all three were registered as Democrat.
One individual who voted was not registered to do so and the final ballot was denied because the voter did not have a proper ID.
Hall said the person without an ID spoke to the election board on election day and still wanted to do a provisional ballot despite being told she did not have a proper ID.
