Review: ‘The House on the Lake’ is a wild, improbable ride

In “The House Across the Lake” a woman staying in a cottage on a remote Vermont lake spends hours drinking heavily and spying on her neighbors with a pair of binoculars. Soon, she becomes convinced that a man living in a house directly across the lake is gradually poisoning his supermodel wife. When the model goes missing, she suspects he has succeeded. Defying police orders to butt out, she tries to investigate herself with unexpected results. Associated Press reviewer Bruce DeSilva says Riley Sager’s sixth novel has so many weird twists that some readers may find it too improbable to swallow.

Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna settle before trial’s sequel

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A settlement agreement has been reached on the eve of a second trial pitting the Kardashian family against former reality TV star Blac Chyna. Jury selection had been set to begin Monday in the trial over Chyna’s allegations that her former fiance Rob Kardashian maliciously posted nude photos of her in 2017 after their tumultuous breakup, but according to court documents, the parties informed the judge that they had agreed to a settlement.
