Elton John doc ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ lands at Disney

Sir Elton John is preparing to say goodbye in fabulous splendor, with the help of a documentary crew and the Walt Disney Co. Disney Original Documentary and Disney+ said Wednesday that the film, entitled “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Elton John Performances and the Years that Made his Legend,” will serve as the definitive and official feature on John’s life and career. Including unseen archival footage, new interviews and a present day look at him and his family, it’ll culminate with his final North American show at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles this November. R.J. Cutler and John’s husband David Furnish will co-direct. No release date was announced.

Review: Actress Selma Blair bares soul in captivating memoir

Selma Blair holds back nothing in her new soul-baring memoir, “Mean Baby.” The Michigan-born entertainer is known for appearances in a slew of high-profile films and on the covers of numerous fashion magazines as well as a mid-life multiple sclerosis diagnosis. What people don’t know, however, and couldn’t until now, is the devastating trauma Blair suffered throughout her life. In his review, Mike Householder of The Associated Press writes that “Mean Baby” is a raw and real look-back at a life that included addiction, sexual assault and self-harm. It’s captivating and unflinching, but also humorous and uplifting at times.

Review: ‘Top Gun’ sequel a welcome trip to the danger zone

More than 30 years after Tom Cruise smirked his way to the cocky heights of the ‘80s as the maverick Navy pilot codenamed Maverick, he effortlessly picks up the character in a new chapter of “Top Gun.” Associated Press critic Mark Kennedy says “Top Gun: Maverick” is an absolutely, thoroughly enjoyable ride — a textbook example of how to make a sequel. It nods to previous cultural touchstones like shirtless sports and motorcycles and yet stands on its own, not weighed down by its past like the last “Ghostbusters” sequel, but rather soars by using the second to answer and echo issues with the first. “Top Gun: Maverick” is in theaters May 27.

“Susan Yeager Party & Concert” at The Goddard Center

The Goddard Center is proud to present Susan Pfau Yeager in concert. She will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Danise Gallaway, Adjunct Professor of Music at Murray State College and owner/teacher at Gallaway Studio, an independent piano studio. This concert will be at the Goddard Center on June 3rd at 7:30pm. Dinner and cocktails will be served one hour prior at 6:30 p.m. Tickets to this event with the meal are $75. Reservations for the concert only are $25. Proceeds from this event support the Goddard Center’s Capital Campaign and renovation.
