At my brother’s wake and celebration of life, he announced to everyone that my brother was going to hell because he was an atheist. He also criticized the arrangements, even though they were exactly what my brother requested. I pulled him aside and asked him to quit saying these things. Despite the name, winter squash isn’t grown or harvested in the winter. In fact, if you want to plant winter squash, it is best to wait until spring (after the last frost).
As a youngster I saw my dad drive across town to save a few cents per gallon on gasoline and watched my mom pick the cheaper store brands when she dragged me along grocery shopping. That experience helped me learn the importance of finding a bargain.
