Cheers to Gary and Jeannine Jackson who recently sold Fireside Dining after 43 years of owning the local dining institution. Generations of Ardmoreites have fond memories of special occasions such as engagements and other celebrations while enjoying a fantastic dinner.
Cheers to Lone Grove teacher Deanna James, who helped organize a once in a lifetime opportunity for middle school students. During an assembly, students had an opportunity to ask Apollo 13 Astronaut Fred Haise questions and learn more about the mission which overcame a life-threatening crisis during a Zoom call.
Cheers to all those who participated in the Carter County Junior Livestock Show and those who made it a success. The hard work and lessons that come with raising and showing livestock cannot be understated. Great job to all those involved.
Cheers to Alvin Spigner, to whom reports of his death were severely exaggerated. For some reason, someone posted on Facebook that Alvin had died, which was shared by others creating a buzz in town.
Cheers to OG&E workers, who went out into the frigid temperatures to restore power to an estimated 1,000 customers this week. OG&E employees often come under the spotlight when conditions, such as freezing temperatures and tornados, are less than optimal.
Cheers to all those honored during the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce Gala Thursday evening. Honorees included Kelly Fryer, who received the Bob & Mollyann Cypert Leadership Award.

Cheers to Lone Grove High School student Marklee McMurtrey and Plainview High School student Lily Archer. Both students’ artwork was selected to be featured in the 2025 Trash Poster Calendar produced by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality.
Cheers to the Chickasaw Nation and Feed the Children for providing 800 Marietta area families with care packages. Each package was contained a five-day supply of family meal kits designed to feed a family of four each day and a 15-pound box of daily essentials such as shampoo, conditioner, lotion, five pairs of socks and other personal care items as well as books and toys.
