Services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11:00am at Emmanuel Baptist Church 120 Veterans Blvd. Ardmore, OK.

Services are in the care of Howard-Harris Funeral Services, Inc. – Oklahoma City, OK.

Cheryl Ozette Hamilton was born on August 9, 1950, to Kenneth (K.P) and Johnnie Mae Ligon Benjamin.

She was united in marriage with John Earl Davis, with whom she was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Lori Johnelda Davis. She later was married to Curtis Hamilton for many years.

She gave her life to Christ at an early age under the pastorship of Rev. C.M. Franks of the Corinth Baptist Church where she eventually became senior choir director, a position she held for over 40 years. Cheryl graduated with honors from Ardmore Douglass High School, class

Cheryl graduated with honors from Ardmore Douglass High School, class of 1967, and went on to receive her associates degree from Central State in Edmond. She held many professional positions in her lifetime, including Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Tulsa, OK, the First National Bank in Ardmore, OK, and starting her own boutique called the “Pants Place.” Eventually, she went on to work for O.G.&E. electric company in the administrative department to later become an engineer, a career that span over 30 plus years. Cheryl also held various offices throughout her lifetime including Sunday school teacher, President of National Ardmore Douglass Alumni Association, AMICA, Chickasaw District Choir Director, just to mention a few.

Upon retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family, gardening, crocheting, writing op-eds for the local paper and most of all following the Dallas Cowboys.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Dawn Benjamin, brother, Arthur “Butch” Benjamin, father, mother, and loving daughter, Lori.

Cheryl is survived by her beautiful grandchildren, Chalis Ja’Shaw Davis of Ardmore, and Dijon Anthony Davis, his wife, Rebekah and their future twins, Caspian Benjamin and Roman Anthony of Ada, OK. One aunt, Barbara Adair of Inglewood, CA. Her brothers: Johnnie Clyde and wife Evelyn Benjamin of Tomball, TX, Kenneth Benjamin Jr, Clayton Eugene and wife Mary Francis Benjamin, Michael Lynn Benjamin, Larry Wayne and wife Patsy Benjamin, all of Ardmore, and Kevin Anthony and wife Tasha Benjamin of Katy, TX. Her loving, caring sister Debra Kay Johnson of Ardmore, and extended sisters: Ruth Manual, Monette Williams, Traci Wilson, Stacy White-Jbour, and the late Rhonda Wilson, all of Ardmore. Her stepson Henry Hamilton of Ardmore. Cheryl has 14 nieces and nephews: Janice Strawder, Marsha Griffin, Melody Hood, Lisa Benjamin, Johnnie Clyde Benjamin, Jr., Eric Benjamin, Derrick Smith, Monica Tate, Michael Benjamin, Mark Benjamin, Jaron Benjamin, Kenneth Benjamin, Chandon Wright, and Mitchell Benjamin. Her god son, Maurice Booker of Tulsa, OK. And her loving church family at Corinth Baptist Church, as well as a host of relatives and friends.

Cheryl was thankful most of all that she was able to spend time with her family. Her life’s journey with the love of God, gave her such great joy.
