Curtis Trent

Services for Curtis Trent are scheduled for Saturday at 2:00 in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Genn officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Ardmore. The family will host a visitation on Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00.

Curtis Reeder Trent was born July 3, 1930, in Shamrock, Texas to Lonnie Claud and Samantha Ruth (Reeder) Trent. He passed this life on January 21, 2023, in a local hospital at the age of 92.

Curtis started school in Lane School, Atoka County and graduated as co-valedictorian from Calumet High school. After high school he was planning to work the wheat harvest from Oklahoma to Canada to earn money for college, but in Western Kansas he received an offer from a pair of bachelor brothers to work on their Registered Hereford Ranch. He worked at the same ranch for the next three summers. He also worked his way through school by being a house boy for the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority House. He helped set up, clean up and serve the food for their meals. He was allowed to live in the basement with the cook and her daughter. He also worked in the evening part time at the Lindsay Pharmacy.

He graduated from the University of Oklahoma, College of Pharmacy in 1952. The first in his family to obtain a college degree.

He and Jewel Mozelle Woodruff were married June 26, 1955. She predeceased him in 2011. He remarried Lena Pearl Mead on May, 2014. She predeceased him in 2020.

Curtis served his country in the US Army. He was stationed at the Command and General Staff College, US Army at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and was the staff pharmacist for the base. He filled prescriptions for John Eisenhower, wife and children as well as other families of officers attending advanced military training. Upon returning to Oklahoma, he worked at Long Drug store in Durant where he met Mozelle Woodruff.

When he came to Ardmore he worked for the Harris Drug Store for about three years before he and his partner C. Bill Michael opened the T&M Pharmacy. T & M purchased and consolidated, Fedler Drug Store, TG&Y Pharmacy Department, Broadlawn Pharmacy, Alsup Drug Store and Tigert Pharmacy. Curtis worked up until July 25, 2022, when he was hospitalized with the illness to which he would ultimately succumb.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Jason Powell, Wesley Powell, Mike Burns, Brandon Roberts, Melvin Posey, Richard Goodman.

Honorary Pallbearers are Howard Deatherage, Dolph Genn, Jr, Gary O’Neal, Jackie Parkey, Deodrick Posey and Ken Powell.

He is survived by his children, Gregory and wife Jacqueline of Ardmore, Bradley and wife Patricia of Oklahoma City, Ok; grandchildren, Austin and wife Melissa of Oklahoma City, and Olivia of Ardmore; great-grandson, Elan of Oklahoma City.

He was preceded in death by, his Parents, spouses, Mozelle Trent (2011), Lena Trent (2020), siblings, David Trent, Georgia Eagan, Claude Trent, and Oma Roth.
