Memorial services will be held at the Harvey-Douglas Centennial on Saturday Oct. 22nd, 2022 at 4:00 p.m., with Larry Vaughan officiating.
Debra “Debbie” Jean Norman, age 70, went to be with Jesus on October 7, 2022. Debbie was born to Herschel and Corrine Vaughan in Altus, Oklahoma on July 3rd, 1952. Debbie grew up on a farm in Hollis, OK. She graduated in 1970 from Hollis High School where she was actively involved in and elected as President of 4H. Debbie attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University and went on to graduate from Baylor College of Dentistry in Texas as a Dental Hygienist. Debbie was a devoted follower of Christ. After graduating in 1974, she moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma and became an active member of the Northwest Assembly of God church, and later at Crystal Rock Cathedral. She met numerous lifelong family friends while there.
On June 3rd, 1978, she married Johnny Norman, they were married for 44 years. During those years, Debbie and Johnny were blessed with their three children Amy, Deanna, and Kevin. Debbie worked for numerous dentists in Ardmore and the surrounding area. After 30 years as a dental hygienist, she retired in 2006.
Debbie was always very involved with her church and kids. She was a missionettes leader at church, involved with PTA, and a Camp Fire leader. Her family later became members of First Baptist Church of Ardmore.
She was an active member until her health started to decline. Debbie enjoyed her Sunday School class and their special Bunco group. Debbie was also a member of UCT. She will always be remembered for helping and taking care of those around her. She especially enjoyed trips to the beach, sewing, crafts, cooking, decorating, and hosting parties. In retirement, Debbie loved spending time with her family and dear friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sibling, and friend who will be greatly missed. She will be remembered for her strong faith and a servant’s heart. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents Herschel and Corrine; brother Billy; a sister Cleta and a niece, Stephanie.
She was survived by her children: Amy King and husband Jacob King, Deanna Norman and James Schooler and Kevin Norman and wife, Rianne Norman; her brother, Larry Vaughan wife Carroll; a sister, Donna Campbell and husband Tom Campbell; her grandsons, Tristan and Luke Schooler, Micah King and honorary granddaughters Kendall and Piper Sloan and their parents Danial Sloan and his wife Andrea; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends that are like family.
