Derek E. Chivers

Derek E. Chivers went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2022. He is survived by his father, Charlie E. Chivers, III; mother, Beverly A. Chivers; son, Austin; brother, Dustin and his wife, Veronica; sister Tess and niece, Clara.

Derek was born on December 10, 1978 in Tulsa, Ok. He grew up in Ardmore, Ok and graduated from Ardmore High School in 1997 and later attended the University of Oklahoma. He had a love for tennis and won a state championship in 1996. In 2010 he began working with numerous Ardmore tennis players and in 2019 started coaching his sister, Tess.

He was an active member of the Maxwell Avenue Church of Christ where he served on two mission trips to Ukraine. He had a zeal for fitness and even achieved a black belt in taekwondo. He had a kind, tender and compassionate heart and was sympathetic to anyone in need. He had a love for animals and had volunteered at the Ardmore Animal Shelter. He was an avid reader with a photographic memory and could quote any line from any book, movie or television show.

Derek is finally at rest and we will hold him close in our hearts always. He will always be remembered for his love and devotion to his family. He was recently blessed with a son who he adored and was looking forward to the joys of fatherhood.

Honorary pallbearers will be R.C. Betancourt, Tyler Reed, Derek Harris, John Gavin, the Ardmore tennis team and as Derek called them “the old guys” with whom he played pickleball and tennis.

Family visitation will be Wednesday May 11th at Craddock Funeral Home from 6:00-7:00 P.M.

A celebration of life service will be Thursday May 12th at 1:00 at The Church of Christ on Merrick Dr.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Ardmore High School tennis team ATTN: Coach Nathan Roberts at 701 Veterans Blvd. Ardmore, Ok 73401.
