Eleanor (Clab) Baber Ward

Eleanor (Clab) Baber Ward was born December 28, 1923 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to John Cecil Baber and Mildred Galt Baber. She passed from this life on Thursday August 4, 2022 at the age of 98 years 7 months and 6 days.

Clab was an amazing mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. Her heart was huge and her zest for life even bigger. Her goal in life was to never be a burden to her children, and she fulfilled that promise to the very end.

She was a graduate of Ardmore High School and attended William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri and the University of Oklahoma. She married Jack Ramsey Ward in Ardmore on February 10, 1943. Clab was an avid golfer winning the Dornick Hills Ladies club championship on eight occasions. She was a member of the Ardmore Junior Garden Club and enjoyed gardening and arranging flowers. She was an outstanding cook, well known for her cherry pies and chicken fried steak.

Clab was preceded in death by her husband Ramsey Ward on February 9, 1974, her parents, and a sister Mary Machen Askew in 1963. Also preceding her was a great-grandson, Carter Ward, and a granddaughter, CheyAnne Johnson.

Survivors include sons James Ramsey Ward and wife Marlene of Angleton, Texas, John Jeffrey Ward and wife Becky of Ardmore, Oklahoma, daughters Machen Daube and husband Sam of Ardmore, Oklahoma and Margaret Ward of Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Also surviving are grandchildren; Machen Ward, Eleanor Powers and husband Lance, Lee Daube and wife Christie, Joe Ward and wife Elizabeth, John Ward and wife NaQuena, Liz Ward Eskridge and husband Frank, David Daube and wife Christi, Robin Barron and husband Mark, Melissa Bollins and husband Brian, and David Moore.

She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren and a special nephew Robert Askew and niece Eleanor Bigbie.

A family visitation will be held at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

There will be a private family burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lee Daube, Joe Ward, Dave Daube and John Ward.
