Late Thursday, July 14, 2022, Evelyn Nadine Bond of Marietta, OK passed away peacefully at the age of 90 at her son’s residence in Franklin, TN. Her journey in life began in Thackerville, OK on January 10, 1932, born to Lonnie Mac and Mattie (Gatlin) Koonce.
Nadine was raised in Thackerville and was a graduate of the Thackerville High School Class of 1950.
She accepted her Lord as her Savior at the Age of 10. Nadine dated and married the only man of her life, Eugene Bond, on June 23, 1950 in Hot Springs, AR. He preceded her in death on February 14,2017. While raising four children, she continued her education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University obtaining her master’s in education. She worked in the Marietta public school system for approximately 40 years. Nadine primarily taught 2nd grade. She played the piano at Eastside Baptist Church over 20 years. Nadine enjoyed traveling and she traveled internationally to many different countries with her friend Marjorie Hobbs. Nadine was a very giving and caring person who loved spending time with her family and friends.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her twin sons, Mark Bond of Marietta and Michael Bond and wife Rebecca of Franklin; daughters, Cheryl Lemons and husband Terry of Marlow, OK and Teresa Stewart and husband Jerry Don of Durant, OK; sister, Maxine Holder of Marietta; six grandchildren, Heather Holding, Melanie Woods, Cheri Walker, Robert Lemons, Nikki Barker, and Alise Barker; and five great-grandchildren.
Nadine was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Eugene Bond; parents, Lonnie and Mattie Koonce; and sister, Ann Lee Butler.
Services to celebrate Nadine’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Marietta with Pastor Brett Alberda officiating. Interment will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
