The brood stock is here! ODWC Fisheries staff have pulled 100 Florida-strain largemouth bass from hatchery ponds. These brooders are mature fish weighing 4-6 pounds, and were released into Grand Lake. Even though this brood stock helped produce over 900,000 pure strain Florida LMB fry, their work isn’t done as these fish will continue to produce bass in Grand throughout their life. As for their fry, they will be grown to fingerling stage and then stocked in waters all throughout the state. Courtesy of ODWC
