Hershel Wayne Lee

Hershel Wayne Lee’s graduation to his home in heaven at the age of 90 years young took place on June 24,2022 with his family at home.

Born February 16, 1932 to Ethel F. Bevill & Doris H. Lee south of Lone Grove, Oklahoma in Carter County. He leaves a legacy of love and God’s spiritual guidance to his family and is survived by his wife Connie M. (Woodrow) Lee of the home; his brothers Jerry Lee and wife Diane-Wheatley, Arkansas and Forest Lee and wife Lynnette -Wheatley, Arkansas; his 5 children, Frankie L. McCullough and husband Gary-Ardmore, Ok, Rhonda (Lee) Howard-Lone Grove, OK, Carrie (Lee) Baxter and husband Derek Lawton, OK, Darren Lee and wife Angella -Eufala, OK, and Brendon Lee and wife Lori -Lone Grove, OK. He goes to prepare his family’s home in heaven with 18 grandchildren and their spouses; his 23 great grandchildren plus 1 great, great, grand child and a host of nieces and nephews as well as his church family.

He was preceded in death by both parents, sisters Violet Sexton-Brownsville, Texas and Trecie Trawick Phoenix, Arizona and several of his military brothers in arms.

Hershel served in the US Army during the Korean War with special services in SCARWAF Engineers and except for a small stay in Harlingen, Texas, Arkansas and Chandler, Oklahoma, he lived in Lone Grove most of his life on the same land his great grandfather farmed.

He met the love of his life Connie in 1955 and married her 2 years later at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Ardmore, Oklahoma, on February 9th, 1957 and has been married 65 wonderful years.

He is a member of The Lord’s Church of Ardmore, Oklahoma where his daughter Rhonda Howard is Lead Pastor and son Brendon Lee is Associate Pastor.

Hershel’s career in the oil field eventually led to his own business as Chapel Operating as an expert oil field consultant and construction expert which spanned the length of his life until recently when he was unable to make the daily drive to his oil leases due to Parkinson’s Disease.

He was best known for a good laugh, joking around with everyone, and enjoying good home cooked food at the family gatherings whether he was on the gulf, lakeside, or sitting on the back porch. Hershel’s (Dad-Poppa) love for Jesus and his family could be seen in all that he did and through his prayers for his children. His hobbies included checking on the cows, fishing, and driving his tractor on the family’s Six Penny Ranch.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 29th at 1:00 p.m. at the Lord’s Church with Pastor Rhonda (Lee) Howard and Pastor Brendon Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Cheek Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Craddock Funeral Home.
