Services for Howard Edward Drew will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, September 23, 2022 in St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Mike Stephenson officiating. Interment will be in the St. Philip’s Church columbarium.
Born on June 9, 1924 to William and Ethel Cruikshank Drew in North Providence, RI, Howard died on September 7, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; father; mother; and brother, Donald. A Brown University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, Howard served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He married Jean Arline Mumma on September 25, 1948 in the Washington Memorial Chapel at Valley Forge, PA. He worked for one company for 44 years at locations in six states with his last 20 years as manager of the Uniroyal/ Michelin Ardmore tire plant.
Howard served the Ardmore community on boards of the United Way, Chamber of Commerce, Ardmore Development Authority, Memorial Hospital and Foundation, Ardmore Village and the Goddard Center. He was a lifelong Episcopalian and member of St. Philip’s Church where he served many years on the vestry and various church committees. Survivors include: daughters Susan Boelens and her husband, John of Keller; Wendy Lemmon and her husband, Charles of Dallas; and Robyn Drew of Dallas; grandchildren, Lee Boelens and wife, Jamie; Melissa Taylor and husband, Robert; Katie Norwood and husband, Brent; Julia Halterman and husband Darrell; Haley Kassab, Travis Kassab; and ten greatgrandchildren.
