Fun for the family
The Family Fun Day of Southern Oklahoma will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 28 at the Murray State College Ardmore Campus. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offer resources, memories and non-stop fun. The campus is located at 2901 Mt. Washington Road in Ardmore.
Fish fry fundraiser
A fundraiser benefitting Kim Lemons is set for 6 p.m., Friday at the Ardmore Masonic Lodge #31 in Ardmore. Proceeds from the event will go toward Lemons’ kidney transplant. Donations will be accepted for fried catfish dinners. The lodge is located at 1032 Cherry Street in Ardmore.
Learn about Chickasaw history
University of Pittsburgh Professor of History Alaina Roberts and Chickasaw citizen and University of North Texas Professor Rev. Robert O. Smith will give a presentation on the rich and complicated history of Chickasaw people at 5:30 p.m., Monday at the Ardmore Public Library. The event is free of charge to the public. The library is located at 320 E St. NW in Ardmore.
Take your kids to the museum
The Greater Southwest Historical Museum will host Soldier for a Day, Kids Craft Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., July 3. Participants will receive their branch of service, orders for the day. They will then work with local veterans to make crafts and explore the museum. Those who complete their mission will be entered into a raffle for prizes. The museum is located at 35 Sunset Drive SW in Ardmore.
Annual outdoor singing
The 56th Annual 4th of July Open Air Gospel Singing, presented by Country Tabernacle, will be from 8 p.m. until midnight on July 4. The Williamsons will be the featured performers and be joined by The Howards, Country Tabernacle Kids, Glory Road Canaan Bound, Gaye Gastineau and other local talent. The Country Tabernacle is located at 3240 Cheek Road in Lone Grove.
Fairways and greens
Make plans to take part in the DIB Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament, which will be from 8 a.m. to noon, July 12 at Lake Murray Golf Course. The tournament is held in memory of Dusty Cain, Isaac Covey and Bobby Tidwell. Proceeds go to the DIB scholarship fund that benefits Lone Grove senior students. The cost is $400 per team.
Circle the calendar
The 12th Annual United Way BBQ Showdown is set for Aug. 1-2 at Regional Park. Friday night will feature Cajun food from 5 to 10 p.m. with TJ Todd and Jake Worthington performing. Troy and Jacob Landry from Swamp People will be signing autographs. The BBQ contest will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday with a Pickleball Tournament and other fun features. All proceeds will benefit the United Way of South Central Oklahoma and local nonprofits.
Literacy day
Ardmore Literacy Leadership and Ardmore Family Literacy will host Literacy Day 2025 in Central Park at 10 a.m., Aug. 9. The back to school event will feature a school supplies and backpacks at no cost along with eye screenings, dental goody bags and so much more.
Ongoing events
The Ardmore Family YMCA hosts Toddler Time each Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. It is free for members and toddlers and $12 for a day pass for non-member adults. The class is taught by Kelsey Armstrong. The class is available to children from six months to four years old.
The Y is also hosting Teen Weight Room and Conditioning for ages 10 to 14 from 5 to 6 p.m., every Tuesday and Thursday. It is free to Y members and $35 a month for nonmembers. Registration is at the Y front desk.
