He grew up in Springer, OK and graduated from Springer High School as valedictorian in 1960. He had perfect attendance throughout his 12 years there. Don had many interests and hobbies beginning at an early age. He was an active member of his beloved Boy Scout Troop where he learned many skills. In High School, he took an interest in amateur radio, becoming the youngest member of the local Ham Radio Club. He also received his pilot’s license and enjoyed many hours flying. He continued to be passionate about learning and took an interest in many different facets throughout his life.

After graduating high school, Don went on to study at Oklahoma State Tech, Okmulgee where he received his degree in industrial electronics. He enjoyed traveling, but was ready to “plant his roots” and decided to return home to work for American Flyers for a few years before he went to work for Charles Dibrell at Dibrell Radio Service. He later became owner in 1972 and changed the name to Arbuckle Communications which has been in the family since 1931. He spent the majority of his career as an entrepreneur, building the business and changing with the times as the telecommunications industry evolved.

Don Clowdus and Ann Dibrell married in Ardmore on April 20th, 1974. They were married for 48 years and raised two daughters, blessing them with four grandchildren.
