The Jerome Westheimer Center for the Performing Arts will be filled with the music of the Garden State (and beyond) this Sunday courtesy of The Jersey Tenors.
The quartet will be performing songs from a wide range of genres including rock, pop and even opera.
Group founder and leader Brian Noonan began his career performing on Broadway and with various touring shows. After deciding to leave the world of theater, he began his own entertainment company which later morphed into the Jersey Tenors.
“We hit the ground running performing for corporate functions, social functions and that kind of thing,” Noonan said. “But with the theatrical and performing experience I had, people kept asking me to create something a little bit longer that we could put into theaters.
“We developed a Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons Show which blossomed into the Jersey Tenors. And we haven’t looked back since.”
The group has been touted as the most versatile tribute act in the nation, which seems very deserving when you hear the wide range of artists represented in their set list.
“Of course I really like the Jersey acts,” Noonan said. “Everything from Frank Sinatra, Frankie Valley, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, and even Whitney Houston. But then we throw more into the mix with Italian opera, and the Beach Boys, Billy Joel and Journey. We really try to have something for everyone from teenagers up to people in their 80s and 90s.”
Noonan shared a bit of what the audience can expect on Sunday.
“We really like to interact with the audience,” he said. “We let them know from the get-go that this is going to be a collaborative show. We’re talking to them. We’re engaging with them. We want them to know that we want them to be a part of things.
“They shout back to us during the show. Once we get going, a wonderful conversation takes over and every show is a little bit different as we build a relationship with the audience.”
The show will begin at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20. Tickets range in price between $17 and $37. They can be purchased online at ajwpac.org. They can also be purchased in-person the night of the event.
“You can expect a lot of fun,” Noonan said. “We definitely layer on the Jersey wise guy schtick, and the audience really gets into it. There’s lots of laughs and good music. It’s a great evening.”
