The Ardmore High School boys basketball team will have a new head coach next season for the first time since the 2020-21 campaign.

Kyle Jessie announced Monday that he is leaving the Tigers to take over at Madill High School.

“(I) want to thank the Ardmore Administration for the opportunity to lead a great group of young men the past five years,” Jessie posted on Twitter. “Today I officially resigned and will take on the role as head basketball coach at Madill High School.”

During his time at Ardmore, Jessie tallied a 68-60 overall record, highlighted by a trip to the semifinals of the Class 5A State Tournament in 2021. The Tigers fell to Carl Albert in that matchup as the Titans then beat MacArthur to clinch a championship.

When Jessie was hired in 2020, he talked about why it was the perfect spot.

“Ardmore is a tradition-rich program and I knew for the foreseeable future, they’re going to be a staple in Class 5A,” Jessie told the Ardmoreite in 2020. “It was a career move for me — I felt like it was the right time to move on to a bigger classification.”

The Tigers recently moved down to Class 4A, but Jessie will be taking the reins of another Class 4A squad.

The Wildcats finished 7-19 this past season, but found success in the previous two campaigns. Madill went 22-5 in 2023-24 and 23-5 in 2022-23 as Ethan Wilkerson helped propel the Wildcats during those seasons and just concluded his freshman year with the Southeastern men’s basketball team.
