Jewel Dean Conway

The daughter of the late Ralph Eugene Bynum, Sr. and Ina Lee (Hager) Bynum, Jewel was born on March 31, 1934 in McCurtain, Oklahoma and passed away on September 8, 2022 at a nursing facility in Holdenville, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 7 days. She and Shirl Dean Conway were married March 24, 1959 in Stratford, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on November 29, 1995. Growing up she lived all over the United States traveling with her parents as they moved for various jobs. Jewel graduated in 1951 from University High School at the University of Arkansas. Jewel’s work career started with working with Lincoln Bank and Sullivan Insurance Company. She had also worked as a hairdresser for many years. Jewel later worked with the Dresser Atlas Oil Company where she was a draftsman. In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and attending her kids’ sporting events. She loved spending her spare time with the love of her life Shirl. As her grandkids began playing sports, she and her dear friend Joan Rawson chased them all over Oklahoma. They loved to watch OU football together. Jewel had been a resident of the Dickson Community for over 60 years. She was a member of the Dickson First Baptist Church.

Survivors to cherish her memories are her daughters: Ina Conway Smith and husband Rick, Kellie Crider and husband Terry and Ginger Bryan and husband Chris; grandchildren: Jami Miller & husband Jeff, Terra Blanton and husband Nick, Kinzey Valdez and husband Esau, K.C. Bryan and Quenton Bowlegs; great-grandchildren: Oliver Moyers, Jaycee Miller and Jasmyn Miller, Korbin Blanton and Harper Blanton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Russell Eugene Conway; brother, Ralph Bynum, Jr.; sisters: Wynona Lehman, Magdalene Berger and Wanda Starr; grandson, Jeremy Josh Moyers. Funeral services for Jewel Dean Conway will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 12, 2022 in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Mr. Esau Valdez officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be: Terry Crider, Chris Bryan, Nick Blanton, K.C. Bryan, Esau Valdez and Quenton Bowlegs.
