John T. Roberts, better known as “Jack”, was born September 4, 1939 to the union of J. T. Roberts and Amanda Taylor Roberts in Gene Autry, Oklahoma. He was called home on March 10, 2022 in Denton, Texas.
John went to school at Lincoln-Berwyn and Gene Autry. After graduating , he worked for Stromberg-Carlson for twenty years, and then with the State of Oklahoma Department of Transportation for fifteen years.
John was baptized at Gene Autry and was a loving and kind person. He was helpful to everyone.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife Zonell of 60 years; their children; Roy Roberts and wife Roslind of Gene Autry, OK; Darla Bailey and husband Cedric of Lone Grove, OK; Lisa Hartgraves and husband Robert of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; and John Tero Roberts III and wife Hillary of Springer, OK; 8 grandchildren, Kaniesha Anderson, Robert Hartgraves, Roy Roberts, Jr., Erron Fagan, Allen Hartgraves, Tero Roberts, Dante Roberts and Catrell Roberts; 11 great grandchildren, Aliyah Roberts, Jordon, Khalayah Willis, Jortez, Tarren, Troy, Tyson, Errianna, Camden, Allie and Sienna; four great-great grandchildren, Bradey Baxton, Katie, Ellianna and Marvick Roberts. He is also survived by four siblings, Norma Jane, Cathy Brown, Harvey Lee and Shirley Ann; plus three special kids they raised, Cheryal Brown, Ernest Williamson and Pat Knight. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Kirk Rushing. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with the assistance of Roy Roberts Jr., Erron Fagen, Tero Roberts, Dante Roberts, Robert Hartgraves, Allen Hartgraves, Jordon Roberts and Jortez Roberts serving as pallbearers. Kaniesha Anderson, Khalayah Willis and Aliyah Roberts will serve as flower girls.
A time of visitation and support for the family will be held Friday evening from 6:00 till 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
