Kathie Clifton, 73-year-old former resident of The Lodge in Ardmore, OK, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at the Lake Country Nursing Center in Marietta, OK. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2022, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Marietta with her brothers Steve, Paul, and Jeff Clifton officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Kathie was born August 2, 1949, in Ardmore to George and Kathleen (Huddleston) Clifton. She grew up and attended schools in Marietta. After graduation, Kathie attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in education. Over the years, Kathie’s career path led her away from public education. She worked for more than 15 years at the Marietta Pants Factory and later went on the work for 28 years as a greeter at the Ardmore Wal-Mart. She really loved being a greeter because she was able to visit with people as they came in and she also established light-hearted relationships with numerous frequent shoppers. Kathie had determination to overcome the obstacles of everyday life and it made her such a kind and compassionate soul. She was a devout member of the Marietta Church of Christ until she moved to Ardmore and began attending the McLish Avenue Church of Christ. She dearly loved both of her church families.

Kathie loved doing artwork and had a fondness for painting. She also collected porcelain dolls. Christmas time was a very special time for Kathie, and she will be fondly remembered for her love of the chocolate covered cherries that she partook of during the holiday. Many things brought her joy and happiness in life, but perhaps one of the things she enjoyed most was spending time with her very special nieces and nephews.

Kathie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Kathleen. Those left to cherish her memory are her siblings, George (Steve) Clifton and wife JoEllen of Meridian, TX, Paul R. Clifton and wife Robin of Kaysville, UT, Mary Kay Thompson and husband John of Marietta, Joan Coldiron and husband Bruce of Sweetwater, TX, and Jeff E. Clifton and wife Susan of Fairbanks, AK; nieces and nephews, DeDe Boaz of Grapevine, TX, Katie Wilson and husband Mike of Fort Worth, TX, Christopher Clifton of Stephenville, TX, Cody Clifton and wife Kristyn of East Layton, UT, Megan Goff and husband Randy of East Layton, Mark Clifton and wife Brittany of East Layton, Chad Thompson and wife Michelle of Santa Fe, TX, Joe Thompson and wife Miranda of Forney, TX, Jason Coldiron and wife Shelby of Blackwell, TX, Jeremy Coldiron and wife Kristle of Cameron, TX, Phil Clifton and wife Hilary of West Fargo, ND, and Joshua Clifton of Fairbanks.

Casket bearers will be Steve Clifton, Paul Clifton, Jeff Clifton, John Thompson, Bruce Coldiron, and Chris Clifton. Honorary bearers are her sisters, nieces, and nephews.

The family wishes to extend great appreciation to Cross Timbers Hospice, Lake Country Nursing Home, Mercy Hospital in Ardmore and Marietta, and to the Village Lodge.
