Melba Janene Davis

The daughter of the late Cecil Land and Jewel (Barr) Land, Janene was born on January 1, 1937 in Willisville, Arkansas and passed away on April 28, 2022 in Springer, Oklahoma at her granddaughters residence at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 27 days.

A resident of Ardmore for the past 47 years moving here from George West, Texas. Janene’s early years consisted of living in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. She graduated from Falfurrias High School in Falfurrias, Texas. Janene worked as a field technician with an eye clinic working for both Dr. Fitzgerald and Dr. Sherry Eye Clinics. In her leisure time she enjoyed painting, dancing in the living room and was known to take drives all over town. Church of Christ by faith, she loved listening to the Bible on audio. For those that knew Janene, she never met a stranger, she loved people.

Survivors include her daughters, Vickie Ballard and husband Kyle and Michelle Sweetland and husband Rick; son, Wesley Davis, Jr. and wife Karen; father of her children, Wesley Davis; grandchildren, Natosha Custard and husband Billy, Alisha Gutierrez and husband Michael, Niko Sweetland and wife Brittany, Kenna Curran and husband Phillip and Dakota Davis; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Alle, Benjamin, Nathan and Delaney, Dominic, Andon, Alyssa, Nova, Camden, Kenleigh, Karley, Presley and Brantley; greatgreat grandchildren, Avery and Cash. Preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be: Dylan Radford, Nathan Taylor, Benjamin Dollar, Niko Sweetland, Austin King, Johnny Taylor, Wes Davis, Brandon Wineblood and Billy Custard.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2022 at the H20 Life Church with Pastor Church McKennell officiating. Interment will follow at Legate Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m.
