A 17-year-old Ardmore girl remained in an Oklahoma City hospital in what was described as stable but serious condition late Saturday after being shot at a northwest side apartment house Friday night.
Ardmore police spokesman Capt. Eric Hamblin said Craig Jamar Anderson, 29, was arrested shortly after the shooting, which occurred at a house that had been converted into apartments in the 1100 block of B Street NW.
Anderson was booked into the Carter County Detention Center pending charges.
APD investigators, led by Detective Phil Shepard, were conducting interviews Saturday into what led to the shooting. Hamblin said detectives were working to identify witnesses who were either present at the time of the shooting or have information concerning the incident in what has been labeled a romance that apparently soured.
“We are still trying to establish what the victim was doing at those apartments,” Sgt. Brice Woolly, of the APD Criminal Investigations Division, said.
The shooting occurred about 8:32 p.m. The victim was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Ardmore and two hours later was airlifted to a metro hospital.
Anderson, known as “CJ,” has a criminal history including a series of previous felony convictions that range from robbery by force, assault on a police officer, concealing stolen property, domestic assault and battery in the presence of minors and making threats of violence.
