PARIS, Texas — A former Ardmore man is facing multiple charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child in Lamar County District Court.
While Lamar County District Attorney Gary Young refused to comment on what he called a pending case, the Lamar County Court Clerk’s office confirmed charges against Chevy Wayne Lambert Tuesday afternoon. Lambert was arrested by Lamar County deputies March 30, based on a Feb. 29 report and subsequent investigation into allegations the 33-year-old man had sexually abused a child under the age of 14. Bond on the initial charge was set at $50,000.
However, documents indicate a second charge was added to the case April 22 when a warrant charging Lambert with “sex abuse of a child continuous” was obtained. A second bond of $150,000 was set on the additional charge.
Currently two court hearings are scheduled in the case. There is a plea bargain hearing set for May 16 and a pre-trial hearing on June 21.
Lambert, who gives a Brookston, Texas, address is also wanted on outstanding warrants in Carter County. A warrant was issued Jan. 8 for failure to pay fines and costs in connection with his guilty plea in 2012 to possession of methamphetamine and a deferred sentence to a guilty plea of threats to perform acts of violence.
Lambert is currently detained in the Lamar County Jail pending the posting of $200,000 in bonds.
