MADILL— First-grade teacher Lynise Parrish has been named Madill Teacher of the Year.
Parrish, a veteran teacher with a career that spans 33 years, has taught 31 1/2 years at Madill Public Schools, teaching first grade, first grade Title 1 and gifted and talented students in first through fourth grades. Having earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, she also has received national board certification.
Parrish calls teaching “a privilege and an opportunity to invest in a child’s life.” She says her goal is to make sure each student in her classroom knows they are important, special and capable.
“As a first-grade teacher it is my desire that every child is loved, cared for and excited about the next chapter of his or her learning career,” she says.
Parrish was honored earlier this week with the award during ceremonies at the school.
