AAA’s popular Tipsy Tow service is once again being provided by AAA Oklahoma for the Independence Day holiday period, which runs from 6 p.m. Friday, July 1 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, July 5 in metro Tulsa, metro Oklahoma City, Ardmore, Tahlequah, Enid, Lawton, Muskogee, Shawnee and Bartlesville.
“If you feel unsafe behind the wheel after drinking at a holiday party or get-together, AAA Oklahoma will come get you and your vehicle and we’ll give both a free, safe ride home,” said Chuck Mai, spokesman for AAA Oklahoma.
AAA developed the Tipsy Tow program to offer drivers who have been drinking an alternative to climbing behind the wheel and endangering themselves and others on the road. Over the holidays, up to 40 percent of all fatal crashes involve alcohol.
To access AAA’s Tipsy Tow service, call 1-800-222-4357 (AAA-HELP) and ask for Tipsy Tow. The service is offered free, no questions asked, to both AAA members and non-members alike. AAA will give you, up to one more person and your car a ride home, within a 15-mile radius from the point of pick-up, anytime, day or night, during the four-and-a-half day period.
AAA Oklahoma offers Tipsy Tow as a community service annually on Super Bowl Sunday and over St. Patrick’s Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s.
