Glovetta D. Hightower died Aug. 4, 2016 in Ardmore, at the age of 91 years 29 days.
Glovetta was born July 6, 1925 in Crawford, to MC and Dora (Lewis) Timmons.  She was raised in Russell.  On May 28, 1943 she married Alpha Kinsey Hightower.  They were married for 32 years when Alpha passed in 1976. Glovetta worked many years as a Cashier for TG&Y, and after her retirement she was a caregiver, and enjoyed taking care of the elderly. She loved to crochet, work crossword puzzles and read.  She enjoyed cooking for family gatherings until she was unable.  In recent years she enjoyed visiting her neighbors at the Ardmore Village, reminiscing about old times including pulling cotton. Glovetta was of the Baptist faith.
  Glovetta is preceded in death by her parents, MC and Dora Timmons; husband, AK Hightower; son, Glen Kinsey Hightower; brothers, Jerry Timmons, David Timmons, Royce Timmons; sister, June Short and 1 grandson and 1 great grandson. Survivors include her sons; Fred Hightower and wife Charlene of Ardmore, Mike Hightower and wife Anna of Tishomingo; daughters, Brenda Hightower of Ardmore and Carylon Jarvis of Oklahoma City; sister, Lou Moon; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016 at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma CIty under the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service. Online condolences may be made at www.wadleysfuneralservice.com.
