Betty L. Cavnar was born on Sept. 20, 1929, to Gaylord Stanley and Gladys (Harper) Ward in Purcell. She passed from this life on Aug. 11, 2016, at the age of 86.
Betty married Edgar Ray Cavnar on July 25, 1947, in Purcell. Caring wife, loving mother, and disciple of Christ, her life revolved around the love for her family. She was involved in the many activities of her children and grandchildren. Betty had several hobbies, but her favorites were sewing and gardening, with her home being featured in the Ardmore Beautification Council’s Garden Tour.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Gaylord and Gladys Ward; husband, Edgar Cavnar; daughter, Teri Anne Freeman; grandchildren, Andrea Jayne Knight, Bryan Michael Knight, and Dusty Ray Cain; sister, Bobbi Sue Powell; and brother-in-law, Lonnie Kennedy.
She is survived by her son, Ed G. Cavnar and his wife, Judy of Ardmore; daughters, Sheri Knight and her husband, Mike of Davis, and Meri Jayne Miller and her husband, John of Ardmore; grandchildren, Cody Cavnar, Wade Freeman and his wife, Kristi, Keith Freeman and his wife, Tonya, Kali Jones and her husband, Daniel, Laci Summers and her husband, Steven, Lyndsi Baxter and her husband, Scotty, Brett Knight and his wife, Lucy, Julie Miller and Blake Miller; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Emma, and Addy Freeman, Whitney Munch, Cannon and Ava Freeman, Khloe and Kylie Jones, Rhett and Harper Summers, Layne and Luke Knight, and Emry Raney-Cavnar; brother, William Richard “Sonny” Ward and his wife, Carolyn of Purcell; and sister, Sallie Jo Kennedy of Norman.
Funeral services will be 2: p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Grove Cemetery.
Grandsons Cody Cavnar, Wade Freeman, Keith Freeman, Brett Knight and Blake Miller will serve as pallbearers.
