Butterfield Stage Youth Director Shannon Rivoire has selected the non-musical version ofCharlotte’s Web for the 2016/17 season opening youth production.
The Children’s Literature Association named this” the best American children’s book of the past
200 years, and Joseph Robinette, working with the advice of E.B. White, has created a play that captures this work in a thrilling and utterly practical theatrical presentation. It is the story and relationships that make the show. All of the amazing characters are here –Wilbur, the amazing young pig, Fern, a girl who understands what animals say to each other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat and, most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte.
The main characters are supported by a cast made up of characters which enhance the production and make this a great theatrical experience.
Auditions will be 1-3 p.m. August 27 in the Carnegie Little Theater on the lower level of the Butterfield Playhouse at 201 S. Denton St.
The cast will include a minimum of 15 players but can increase to as many as 35 based on the turnout for the auditions.
This is the 90 minute version of the play which will be open on October 14, followed by two performances on October 15th and a Sunday matinee on October 16th .
