Memorial services for Hazel Mae Gilstrap, 95, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey­-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory conducted by the Rev. Stephen Harris, with a reception to follow.
Daughter of the late Frank M. Smith and Virgie Ethel (Gordon) Smith, Hazel was born May 4, 1921, at Broken Bow, Okla. She died in an Ardmore convalescent home Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016.
Hazel moved to Ardmore in 1959, coming from Casper, Wyo., she had been a cook and nursery worker at First Baptist Church and also for the Nutrition Program of the Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church and had been a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Ardmore.
Survivors include her sons, Richard “Dick” Couch and his wife, Sandra of Norman, and Mark Eugene Gilstrap and his wife, Beth of the Dickson Community; a step-daughter, Marla Gilstrap of the Newport Community, Lone Grove; two sisters, Frances Bachman of Moore, and Barbara Williams of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; nine great­-grandchildren; and three great-­great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Couch in 1959 and Truman Gilstrap in 1977; and also a son, Roger Couch.
