MARIETTA — Services for Linda Kay (Cox) Freeman, 73, of the Shady Dale Community are set for 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, in the Marietta Church of Christ. Officiating will be Bro. Les McGalliard, assisted by Bro. Gary Labeth. Interment in the McAlister Cemetery, near Overbrook, will follow under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta.
The daughter of Clyde and Ruth Webb Cox, Linda was born Aug. 26, 1943, at Enville. She passed away Friday, August 26, at her residence.
Born and raised at Lake Murray, Linda attended school at Enville and graduated with the Marietta High School Class of 1961. She and Alvin R. Freeman were married in Ardmore, on Aug. 2, 1963, and they moved to Bell, California, to make their home. They then lived in Grand Prairie, Texas, before moving to the Shady Dale Community in 1984. A homemaker and devoted mother, Linda loved spending time with family and friends. Her hobbies included reading, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and gardening. She was a member of the Marietta Church of Christ.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Lovetta Williams; and three infant brothers.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin R. Freeman of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Roger Radell of Prague, and Kathy and Raymond Brawley of Wilson; brother, Gary Cox of Ardmore; sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Bobby Stinson of Falconhead; four grandchildren, D.J. Kretzschmar, Hannah Kretzschmar, Sarah Radell, and Jonathan Radell; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Kretzschmar.
Serving as casket bearers will be Raymond Brawley, Roger Radell, D.J. Kretzschmar, Jonathan Radell, Preston McGehee, and Gregg McGehee. Honorary bearers are Vance Parr, Duane Hicks, and Butch Shellenberger.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Marietta Church of Christ Building Fund.
Time of visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family wishes to extend a special note of appreciation to the Mercy Home Health and Cross Timbers Hospice teams, especially Shawna Stinson RN, Melanie Householder LPN, Brandy Yarbrough, Jennifer Porterfield, and Dr. Joe Hamill for the love and wonderful care given to our Linda. We will never forget your many acts of kindness to Linda and to us, her family.
