Editor’s Note: This is an ongoing Q&A profile series introducing new teachers that have joined Ardmore City Schools.
Position: 3rd grade teacher
School: Lincoln Elementary
Years in education: First year
Q: What made you decide to work in schools?
I’ve grown up in a teaching family. My mother, my grandmother, and a few aunts are all teachers. It has been my lifelong dream and this year it will come true!
Q: What is your favorite part of doing your job?
I always get asked “Why did you become a teacher?” And my response, although somewhat cheesy is always this — I decided to become a teacher for that feeling that I get when I see that I finally made a difference in a child’s life. Because of me, he/she learned something new. That moment when you can just see it on their faces that it finally clicks.
Q: What kind of impact do you want to make in your students’ lives?
I want to make a huge impact. I want to be the favorite teacher that pops into their heads as they look back one day.
