Work began last week along U.S. Highway 70 for a gravity sewer line extension that will serve new commercial development
Former city council member Roy Neill is helping develop a new strip mall in the area that was originally inspired by a new strip mall in Pauls Valley.
City manager Ian O’Neal said for the city, businesses help because the majority of their revenue comes from sales tax dollars.
“The city operates on a tax base and we need to keep more of it at home,” Neill previously told The Ardmoreite.
The former city council member is hoping several restaurants will make the new development their new home.
A total of seven acres is included in the development area, which is located just east of UPS on U.S. Highway 70.
Lone Grove Water and Sewerage Trust Authority awarded the bid for the sewer line extension to Chaney Construction out of Tishomingo last month for the work totaling more than $137,000.
