Carter County Commissioners approved a sales agreement Monday with Warren Cat for the purchase of a new dozer.

“This is for District 3 and it’s basically a trade,” District 3 Commissioner Jerry Alvord said.

The dozer the county previously had was not satisfying their needs so it was sold through public auction. The new dozer is being purchased through a state bid from Warren Cat.

“With the floods last year we realized our right of ways, we needed to work on our drainage, get water off the roads,” Alvord said, explaining why the dozers were traded out.

Commissioners also approved a road crossing permit in southern Carter County, just south of Wilson, Monday for Jefferson County Rural Water District #1. Alvord said it is to either serve a new dwelling or somebody who is just now getting on to the Jefferson County water system.

A 2017 Emergency Management Performance Grant was approved Monday, as well. Carter County Emergency Manager Paul Tucker said it is a yearly grant the county applies for to help with operation costs.

Other items approved included monthly appropriations, county officers’ reports and requisitions and purchase orders for county highway, general government and all cash accounts.
