Funeral services for Evelyn “Cootie” Williamson Gentry, 92, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at the Corinth Baptist Church with Pastor Abraham Walton Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Clearview Cemetery.

Evelyn was born in Berwyn, Okla., on April 11, 1924, to the parentage of Jab Williamson and Henretta Berryman Williamson.

Evelyn attended school in Berwyn. She attended church at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in her early years. In later years, she joined Corinth Baptist Church in Ardmore, under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. C.M. Franks. She was an active member of the choir. Evelyn lived a rich, fulfilling life and loved the outdoors. An avid fisher and hunter, she could hit whatever she aimed at with her trusty 410 shotgun, even in the dark. She brought home squirrels, rabbits and plenty of fish every time she went. She also would round up anyone who wanted to pick pecans, but be prepared to stay all day because there was a lot of ground to cover.

Evelyn was married to W.C. Antwine of Gene Autry. They had one son; she later married Henry A. Gentry of Ardmore.

Evelyn worked for over 40 years as a domestic engineer for several families in Ardmore, including the Biddicks. She loved going to garage sales and always had whatever you needed at her house.

Evelyn was the last of 12 siblings, who all preceded her in death along with her parents; her husband, Henry A. Gentry in 2006; and a granddaughter, Kashka Myshia McGee in 2005.

Loved ones to cherish her memory are her son, Donald Ray Antwine Sr.; daughter, Velma “Tooti Fruiti” McGee; son-in-law, Floyd McGee; grandsons, William Dion Antwine, Donald Ray Antwine Jr., Desmond Demetrius Antwine and Carmalle Lamar McGee Sr.; granddaughter, Nakia Shamalle McGee, along with a host of great-grands, great-great-grands, nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins and many other loved ones and family.

The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Friday at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
