STRATFORD — Harold Hampton Rycroft of Springer, was born June 23, 1918, in Stratford, to Ude and Gladys (Noble) Rycroft. He passed away on Sept. 25, 2016, in Ardmore, at the age of 98 years 3 months and 2 days. He grew up in the Stratford area and attended Stratford school. He was married to Ruby Blain on Aug. 10, 1940, in Stratford. He has lived in the Springer area since the early 1980s.
He retired from Sears in Shawnee, where he worked as a delivery driver. He also farmed and loved gardening, fishing and rabbit hunting. He was a member of the Springer Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby; and one brother, Warren.
He is survived by his niece, JoAnn Smith and friend Matthew Kuykendall of Elgins, Texas; great-niece, Geri Hayes and husband, Jerry, of Springer, and their family Zach Aman and Hayleigh Aman; great-nephew, Walter Smith and Chanel of Bronte, Texas, and family Barbara Chambers, Riley Smith, River Wood, Jaxon Chantrill and Cooper Smith; and nephew, Glen and Holly Brown of Fox.
Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. this evening at DeArman/Pickard Funeral Home in Stratford.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at DeArman/Pickard Funeral Home Chapel in Stratford, with Haskell Rycroft officiating. Burial will be in McGee Cemetery in Stratford.
