Editors note: It’s no secret there are hard working dogs and cats. But while some are tending to traditional animal jobs, like herding cattle or mousing in barns, others are going to work with their owners and are performing “people” jobs at local stores and offices, like this week’s cat that works.
Name and occupation:
Bowtie is a 9-year-old feline who has been on the job at Mike Hellack Chevrolet since she was a kitten.
Bowtie learned the business from the ground up, literally. In fact, when she first applied for a job, she couldn’t get off the ground or through the front door. But persistence paid off, even though it didn’t get her through the door right away. Her first job was outside security, which did come with some perks, like cat chow and a visit to the local vet’s office. She earned her name, Bowtie, because her coloring closely resembles the orange Chevrolet emblem, which looks like a bow tie.
An unexpected sabbatical, worried her now business partners, Mike and Kathy Hellack, who were also concerned Bowtie would look for employment elsewhere with winter fast approaching. So when she returned to her post she got a promotion. The doors to the dealership opened and she marched right in. The promotion rated her to a cushy inside job, her very own litter box and her photo on the meet the staff page of the firm’s website.
What makes her perfect for her people job/s:
Bowtie is a cat of many talents. With just a few power naps throughout the day, she can juggle the demands of several jobs. While she still is in charge of nighttime security, during the day she graces the reception desk, where she greets customers with aplomb and sophisticated dignity. However, she has no objection to cooing or petting from her multitude of admirers. She also shares those same talents from her perch in the finance office where her charms are also highly regarded.
But wait, there’s more. Bowtie also uses her outstanding creative abilities in the advertising and social media departments. After all who else could have come up with the slogans about no fees or fleas. And, last but not least she’s photogenic, making her the dealership’s supermodel.
