Mamie Lee Sias Scribner, 88, was the third child of Albert Sias and Pearlean Williams Sias. She was born April 17, 1928. She passed away on Nov. 29, 2016.
She met and married Robert E. Scribner Sr. and later moved to Ardmore in 1958. She was employed as a domestic for several local families among them, C.M. Fleming, Ruth Young and Ernestine McClure. She united with First Baptist Church soon after moving to Ardmore, where she served faithfully on the Usher Board until health prevented her doing so.
Family was everything to Mamie. In addition to her own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many people felt that “Miss Mamie” or “Mother Scribner” was always warm and welcoming. Education was of utmost importance to her, and for several years she would use her own money to provide backpacks of school supplies for children so that no child had to begin the school year without them.
She leaves to cherish her memories her three daughters, Bonnie Collier, Barbara  (Dennie) Hornbeck and Ruth (Thomas) Kyle; one son, Robert Jr.; grandchildren, Danette, Loyd, Kyea, Michael, Myea, Danielle, Michelle, Joshua and Sias; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Lauren, KeSean, Terrell, Thijs and Xavier; nieces, Patricia Stevenson Hempstead and Maxine Hightower; nephews, the Rev. Albert (Gloria) Hightower and Melvin Hightower; friends and her friends in her Senior Cell Group of FBC.
Mamie was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sister, Annie; brother, Jerry; nieces, Ola Mae Owens and JoAnn Stevenson; and son-in-law, Ronald Roberson.
Services were Saturday, Dec. 3 at First Baptist Church (Eastside) and Dr. Wayne A. Lawson, pastor did the Eulogy and the Rev. Kirk Rushing officiated the service.
