UPDATE: Main Street has been reopened and the front facade of the JC Yeatts building that had partially collapsed last night has been torn down, according to Jessica Scott, director of development services.

Ardmore city manager J.D. Spohn says the city has hired a contractor to tear down the front facade of  the JC Yeatts building that partially collapsed around midnight.

“It’s a matter of public safety,” Spohn said. “Main Street will be open this afternoon as soon as the situation is stabilized.”

Main Street between A and B Streets was cordoned off by Ardmore Fire Department, who responded to the collapse  into the area designated as a pocket park.
