Coleta “Carol” Drummond, 82, of Earlsboro, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at her home.

Carol Drummond, 82, of Earlsboro, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at her home.

She was born July 15, 1934, to Paul A. and Hettie Eugene (Wadlow) Chesser in Hobart.

Carol was raised in Hobart until moving to Shawnee during her senior year in high school where she graduated.

Carol met the love of her life, J.D. Drummond, in Shawnee at the Central Drug Store where she worked. They were married on Jan. 14, 1956, in Shawnee. They made their home in Earlsboro in 1977 after J.D. retired from the military.

She was a very active member of Earlsboro First Baptist Church. Carol loved being outdoors and enjoyed mowing the yard, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill Chesser; daughter, Pam Fultz; and grandson, Brandon Miller.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 61 years, J.D. Drummond of the home; three daughters and one son-in-law, Elizabeth and Ray Cochran, Cindy LaPach and Paula Baker, all of Earlsboro; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Mickey and Deana Chesser of Shawnee and Jimmy Chesser of Shawnee; as well as other loving extended family and cherished church family.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, and from 9 a.m. through service time, Friday, Feb. 10, at Cooper Funeral Home.

Service will be 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 10, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Tim Green, South Canadian Baptist Association, and Brother Mark Streetman, Earlsboro Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
