INDEPENDENCE, Kan. — Dale Clarence Kindt, 84, passed away peacefully late March 5, 2017, in Sugar Land, Texas, after a long illness with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born Feb. 3, 1933, in Tulsa, Okla., to Clarence and Mary Kindt. The family attended Grace Lutheran Church where Dale was baptized into the Lutheran faith on March 26, 1933. Dale was confirmed on March 30, 1947, at Grace Lutheran Church.
In 1948 the family moved to Independence, Kan., where he graduated high school and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. In March 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was assigned to the 15th Air Force, 43rd Bomb Wing, 65th Bomb Squadron of the Strategic Air Command at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Ariz. He was assigned to a flight crew for the B-47 Stratojet Bomber. In 1954, Dale was stationed overseas at Fairford Air Force Base, England and Sidi Slimane Air Force Base in French Morocco, North Africa.
While in Tucson, Dale met his future wife Orline Miller through mutual friends. They were married on May 18, 1956, at Faith Lutheran Church, Tucson. Dale was honorably discharged from the Air Force in March 1957. In May 1957, Dale began work in Wichita, Kan., for Boeing as a final flight inspection crew member for the B-52 Jet Bomber. In 1958, the family moved to Tulsa, Okla., where Dale attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics and worked at the Tri-State Laboratories. In 1962, the family moved to Independence, Kan., where Dale worked for Electra Manufacturing and the family attended Zion Lutheran Church. In 1967, Dale took a job with Sinclair Oil and Gas Co. and the family moved to Seminole, Okla. In 1970, Dale was transferred to Ardmore, where the family joined Trinity Lutheran Church. Dale served as the Financial Secretary for the church for many years. Dale retired from Atlantic Richfield Co. in August of 1991. He and Orline enjoyed traveling in their retirement years, which included a mission trip by Dale to Bolivia. Dale’s hobbies included farming, photography and genealogy. In November 2009, Dale and Orline moved to Houston and joined Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 60 years, Orline; children, Lynwood Kindt and wife, Sandra, Brenham, Texas, Kevin Kindt and wife, Karie, Ardmore, and Kaylene Kindt, Houston; grandchildren, Jeremiah Kindt and wife, Jessica, Wilson, and Christina Moore and husband, Mitchell, Houston; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Silverado Memory Care Sugar Land for the loving care they provided Dale over the past 4 ½ years. Special thanks to Joe and Millie who had a special friendship with Dale from the first day they met him. Although dementia took a lot from Dale over the years, it never altered his bond with his wife Orline or his soul. He was and always remained a child of God and is now at peace with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 13th, at Zion Lutheran Church, Independence, Kan. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 12th, at Potts Funeral Home in Independence.
