At the age of 94, Wilma Evelyn King Gant peacefully passed away in her home, at 2:52 p.m., March 9, 2017,  surrounded by her children and family.
Wilma and Jack D. Gant were married July 5, 1940, in Oklahoma City, Okla., and were married for 60 years. He preceded her in death on December 6, 2000.
Evelyn was known for her love of God and Jesus Christ, family, her friends, and the beauty that surrounded her. She lived a rich full life that included circus performer, dancer and teacher, artist and lover of art, organizer and instigator, intellectual born of true curiosity, business woman, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and anchor. Evelyn was very active in the First Presbyterian Church.
She brought to this world, to us and hundreds more, enough love, attention, wisdom, compassion for each and every one of us to receive, to find in ourselves a richer life, to change us, to save us — she had enough to give for each of us to carry something of her in us.
She is survived by her children, Dale, Gilda and Gary, sister, Gilda; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Evelyn was also preceded in death by her father, Lee Allen King; mother, Wilma King; and her beloved companion, Lux Wilkinson.
Evelyn encourages memorial gifts for the youth organization at the First Presbyterian Church of Ardmore or charity of your choice. She loved you all.
