Adam M. Powell recently received the Top Academic Award from the 92nd WHP Basic Academy during recent ceremonies commissioning him as a Wyoming State Trooper.
Powell, born in Ardmore and a Plainview High School graduate, he joined the U.S. Air Force in 2009 serving for 4 1/2 years before ending is military career in Cheyenne. He subsequently worked as a detention deputy for the Laramie County Sheriff’s Department before joining the WHP.
During the recent academy graduation/commissioning ceremony, Powell joined other fellow cadets in taking the WHP oath and exchanging their ‘recruit” badges for official badges. Officials said the cadets had completed an intensive training period, completing various classes including: firearms, commercial carrier training, physical training, Radar?LIDAR use, emergency vehicle operation, custody and control and crash investigation.
Powell says he is “honored and excited ” to have attained the post of a Wyoming State Trooper and to serve the citizens of the state. He has been assigned to the Laramie Division.
His hobbies include: shooting, hiking, and being outdoors. Powell also enjoys spending time with his family.
