With the calendar turning to April, area baseball and softball teams can now start to think about district and regional tournaments on the horizon.

Something else they’ll need to think about is plenty of rain in the upcoming forecast.

Area teams will begin their week today hoping to avoid as much rescheduling as possible as the season begins to wind down.

The Ardmore Tigers baseball team will look to break out of its district funk as they play host to the El Reno Indians today at 5:30 p.m. AHS is coming off an 0-3-1 performance at the Duncan SOI tournament this past weekend.

Ardmore is currently on a four-game district losing streak after winning their opening contest against Altus 4-3 on March 13.

Another team looking to keep district momentum on its side will be the Lone Grove Longhorns who will be hosting Blanchard today beginning at 5 p.m.

Other baseball action today will see Marietta at Comanche, Plainview at Sulphur, Dickson at Madill, Davis at Wynnewood, Tishomingo at Kingston, and Healdton at Central High in Marlow.

As for area slow pitch teams, there’s no rest for the No. 11 Sulphur Lady Bulldogs who will return to action today at Wilson after making the semifinals this past weekend at the Sulphur Slow Pitch tournament.

The No. 17 Kingston Lady Redskins will also be looking to rebound today as they play host to Thackerville.

It will be double duty for the No. 16 Davis Lady Wolves tonight as they take on Coalgate and Byng in a tri-angular from Coalgate High School.

No. 19 Healdton is also in action at home this evening taking on Wynnewood.

Class 2A’s No. 6 team the Turner Lady Falcons will be traveling to play the Dickson Lady Comets tonight.

Other action in slow pitch softball tonight will see Plainview host Marietta, and Colbert traveling to Madill for non-district games.
